SOMETHING STINKS IN LINCOLN COUNTY NC. Brian Addison was killed in Lincoln County Nc. on 09/01/03. Sheriff Pickens refused to demand that her staff , do their job and investigate his death. Just like they investigated the dogs death. As they should have. All we received from The Lincoln County Sheriff Dept. was lies, and stupid answers to simple questions.About 3 years after Brian's death. Brian's grandmother started to become ill. Her illness progressed until she passed away on Nov. 13 2008. The one thing she wanted was to see the person that killed Brian, brought to justice. Due to illiteracy, ignorance,and/or corruption. That did not happen. I hope the people directly responsable for this get some satisfaction from this miscarriage of justice, and you and I know who you are. Now the Lincoln county commissioners have got involved with an alleged DWI charge. They did not get involved with Brian's death. Also Rick Shaffer has got involved. He refused to look into Brian's death. Even after Sheriff Pickens sent to him a report so sloppy it was referred to by a seasoned homicide investigator as toilet paper. Report did not show even one person interviewed. But Rick Shaffer accepted it as an investigation. Does he not know any better? He told me it was over, he was closing the case. The Sheriff do what they want to. The District Attorney, {The Honorable William Young} at the time would not answer my calls, or mail. Something stinks in Lincoln county. Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord PLEASE SIGN PETITION JUSTICE FOR BRIAN ADDISON Petition

CLICK ON THE TABS ABOVE TO VIEW ALL PAGES ..This website concerns the death and only the death of Brian Addison. Seeking a proper investigation of his death or answers as to why an investigation should not be conducted, and nothing more. Not asking any favors. Just do what is police procedures all over the United States. Also what is taught by the tax supported NC Justice Academy A few major questions 1. Why was police procedure not followed? 2. Why and who had the authority to close the case as self inflicted? Before the autopsy report that was requested by police was received ? 3. Why won’t Sheriff Pickens answer any of our questions? 4. Why does Sheriff Pickens refuse to release any more public records to us? Mainly the investigators report, which they promised to us? We know why now . A report does not exist. Also the report written when the case was closed. 5. Why was gun shot residue swabs held 6 mo. And 17 days before being sent to the lab? There are many more questions. One more question for now. Why would The Lincoln County Sheriff Dept. investigate and arrest a man for the death of a dog? (Which they should have done.) When they wouldn’t investigate a violent, unexplained, unexpected death of a person. It don’t make sense. There must be a reason. Some one said the system failed. This was not the system. It was a decision made by one or more persons for a specific reason. Handling of Brian’s death was to far off from police procedures , Justice Academy guidelines and common sense, to be any system failure. It was a people failure. Brian was killed in Lincoln County, North Carolina at 3:00 am, Monday, September 1, 2003.
TO THE LIVING WE OWE RESPECT TO THE DEAD WE OWE THE TRUTH ALL WE ASK IS SENSIABLE, LOGICAL EVIDENCE OF SUICIDE. We are not and never have accused anyone of anything. Neither have we tried to bring harm to any one. We started out to look at the investigation, because of inconsistancies. Seeing that very little had been done. It appeared that there was very little concern, on the part of investigators, and the more we ask questions the worse it got. We feel that being a human and a citizen of this state. The state owes to Brian at least an investigation equal to what a stray dog would get. If that has been done it is being kept a secret, we have not seen it. If The Lincoln County Sheriff Dept. would give us reports showing what they discovered. Or answer our questions, it may clear up everything. But they refuse to do it. It was reported that Brian was heard say o f*** then a shot was heard. That is about the nearest to the truth of anything reported. Brian said o f*** then a shot was fired. The question is who fired the shot? We have always said that every assumption may be right. Every word in the delayed statement may be true. What we can't understand is why Brian's case is singled out to be ignored. What would it cost to do an intellegent positive investigation, looking for the truth. Based on what we were told, by investigators. The only thing that was done was what was done the morning he was killed. The statement 10 days late, and interviewing 4 people 8 months later.(WHICH WAS ALLOWING 4 PEOPLE WRITE A STATEMENT. WITH NO QUESTIONS. IS THIS AN INTERVIEW?) Can anyone call that an investigation? If anyone can help, or has any information, or disputes anything in this web site. We will be glad to change anything that is found to be wrong. please e mail caddi410@yahoo.com I feel that to allow a person or persons to close a shooting death, as self inflicted gunshot. With out following any type of procedure of an investigation. Using only assumptions and the statements of the supposed only witness. No follow up investigation. Statement of supposed only witness 10 days after the death. No ballistic test. Allowing evidence to be destroyed. OR DESTROYING IT. It is a disgrace to the Sheriff Dept., To The Justice Dept., All professional law enforcement. and The Justice Academy. It is unbelievable, and must be un explainable. It has not been explained in over 5 YEARS SIGN PETITION .
Brian was killed at his home in Lincoln County NC. It was 3:00 am on Mon. morning 09/01/03. He was shot with what The Lincoln County Sheriff investigators said was his 9mm. hand gun. It was reported he was the only person there except his wife Susan. There was no ballistic test done on the projectile retrieved by the pathalogist. It was reported in the autopsy report to be a medium caliber fully jacketed projectile which did not exit. There was no fingerprints taken on the gun. The serial no. on the gun was not traced. Lt. Matthews of The Lincoln County Sheriff Dept told us the gun could not be traced. He told us the way they knew it was the gun that was retrieved, was because it had blood on it. OUR CONCERNS! We have never ask the Lincoln County Sheriff Dept. to do anything. Except a simple thorough investigation, and share the results with us. We have never accused anyone of anything. We are not arguing with the suicide ruling. The problem is when it was made, who made it, and most of all the information used to make it. We know Dr. Gleckman ruled it suicide on 10/14/03. He used the same information, because no further investigation had been done. Also we are not concerned with politics, political machines, or who is elected to what. Democrat or Republican. We are not concerned with who knows someone, who owes someone, who belongs to which club. We are not concerned with how much experience anyone has, which is useless with out common sense and an open mind, and a desire to uphold the law. We are concerned with a violent death being investigated. A simple investigation that would not require forensic scientist. So simple Barney Fife could do it. What is the problem? What is the motive? INVESTIGATON! Shortly after Brian was shot. Investigators from The Lincoln County Sheriff Dept. arrived. The incident report was written by Sgt. Spencer Summers. He wrote he was investigating a self inflicted gunshot to the head. How he would know that at this time in the investigation is a mystery. Sgt. Summers wrote at the end of his report under further investigation. Some time during the investigation, someone came upon 3 sets of photos. One set was in the kitchen area on a baker rack. Someone had written on these photos with a black marker. Det. Lavern Bolick collected the set that was written on as evidence of suicide. It was ASSUMED these photos were written by Brian. These photos was their evidence of suicide, along with being called in as suicide. They thought they were a suicide note. After The Sheriff Dept. received hand writing samples .It was proven that Brian did not write on the photos. Now they didn't know what they mean. Did they try to find out? There was some photos on the dining table, torn up.These were not collected as evidence. There was some photos in the garage on a shelf that were not collected as evidence. There was also a note wrote on a cabinet door, with a black marker . The cabinet door was not taken as evidence. This writing on the cabinet was also ASSUMED to be written by Brian. We know someone else wrote the other photos could they have also written on the door. The cabinet door appeared of great importance to investigators, yet they left it there. It appears that to some extent Susan was interviewed that morning. There was two people there that arrived before police, and went into garage. These people were not interviewed at that time. Brian's father was there the only question he was ask was. (Are you the father?) There is an odd thing about the assumptions. every assumption points toward suicide. What was assumed about the gun case being in the bed room, where Brian had not been sleeping. The Medical Examiner, Seth Bailey was at the scene. He wrote in his report. Brian went into the garage with the 9mm. and closed the door. Where did he get that information? From the only other witness there, as far as we know. He stated he wrote on a cabinet, I love you all. Did someone tell him he wrote on cabinet? Brian was supposed to be the only one in the garage. Maybe this is another ASSUMPTION. The way it is written ,is as a fact. The medical Examiner marked cause of death pending. He marked manner of death pending. Someone in Chapel Hill supposedly reviewed the ME report on 10/14/03, and marked the manner of death suicide.Since the Medical Examiner is both qualified and authorized to make a ruling. It appears that he was in a better position to rule suicide at the scene. Where he could see the evidence first hand. The person in Chapel Hill used the information the ME wrote and made the ruling. The Medical Examiner wrote that Brian's wife said he had been drinking heavy for last 3 weeks. No one attempted to confirm this. The autopsy stated he had not been consuming alcohol immediately prior to death. Every decision made that morning was made, based on an assumption or the word of the only other witness supposedly there. There was not any of the information taken that morning, veryfied to be a fact.
Who would believe investigators told us on 05/10/04 that the case was closed as self inflicted gunshot to head. How did they get that from what information they had. This is an expert speaking of a 357, quite a difference from we heard. The firing of a gun of this power inside the head results in terrific expansion caused by the burning gasses escaping from the muzzle. This effect is increased as the barrel length is shortened. Often the head literally comes apart. In cases where the skin holds the head together there are stretch marks and breaks in the skin, especially around the mouth.. To see what Brian would have looked like if the 9mm. had been in his mouth as assumed by investigators. Go to gunshot photo tab at top of page. This photo is gross. Brian only had one bruise on his cheek, which indicates the possibilty of a struggle. This was not mentioned by investigators. .
It was reported to us, that a person who had not been interviewed, was ask to take a polygraph. This person said the Sheriff's professional representive told her THE GRANDPARENTS WON'T LET IT GO. If this unprofessional, un ethical, illiterate, statement was made. It is not a matter of letting go it is a police dept. not doing their job. Not honoring their oath of office. Brian's death deserves the same consideration that Sheriff Pickens gave the Jack Russell. Just like she should have. There is a reason
